Given how yesterday went with Lizzy discovering the other type of abuse our system has been through, we will probably not be communicating with anyone for a day or two, at least. This includes FB messaging, messaging on here, and texting.

Lizzy needs time to process the information and, frankly,…

I am reblogging this because we keep receiving messages, which is alright, but I want you all to know why we may not get back to you for a couple of days.

Given how yesterday went with Lizzy discovering the other type of abuse our system has been through, we will probably not be communicating with anyone for a day or two, at least. This includes FB messaging, messaging on here, and texting.

Lizzy needs time to process the information and, frankly, rest while she tries to do so.
To watch her reaction was devastating as well as rough on our system and we want her to have the time she needs to start feeling somewhat stable again.
That is priority.

Okay, so…there’s something I really don’t understand.

In regards to people (who don’t understand the disorder) writing or RPing characters with DID (or any mental illness, really, but I’m focusing mainly on DID)…why don’t these people just do their fucking research? Or ask (appropriate) questions to someone who actually has the illness/disorder? Alec, Regina, and I never mind answering questions about mental health or illnesses, as long as the questions aren’t too personal or distasteful.

Seriously, I don’t get it. Writing and RPing are two things I really enjoy doing and when I write something, I make damn sure that I do my research prior so I’m not just making assumptions or pulling nonsense out of thin air.

And, yeah, I’ve read fanfics/RPs that have to do with their character(s) having DID and 9 times out of 10 it’s inaccurate and frankly insulting to people who actually have to deal with it, in real life. Because, yeah, DID isn’t some fictional thing that’s just there for you to use when you need a plot idea.

Look, I get it. Some people seem to really like the idea of a character having someone/many people in their head or a character having an alter who’s like fucking Mr. Hyde or something…but that’s not how DID works. That’s not what DID is. If you’re going to use any plot like that in your writing/RPing, then don’t fucking call it DID/MPD. Don’t call it anything that even somewhat links to DID, or any mental illness. If you’re going to use plots like that, then come up with your own explanation(s) and name(s) for what your character is dealing with, but don’t just take the name of an actual mental illness, make shit up, and think that it’s alright.

Do your fucking research.
It’s not exactly difficult.

I’m sorry.
I haven’t been out a lot lately, but yeah, this is something I’ve been thinking about for the past few days while inside.

Maybe I’m just whiny and irritable but it’s a little annoying that the DID tags are only like 40% posts from actual people with DID and the rest are just “I theorize that THIS CHARACTER HAS DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER and here is my explanation” or “I shall now write a thing where a person has DID and in this thing it shall be extremely inaccurate, I will use the wrong terms, and it’ll be just like all the other things about people with DID where the host is chill and their one alter is evil” and idk I’m just seeing a lot of that lately when id much rather read about what’s going on in people’s actual lives

Someone else with my basic feelings toward the DID tag.
